Pyrin Information

Pyrin is a prescription medicine that is available as a Tablet. Fever, Headache, Pain are some of its major therapeutic uses. Pyrin also has some secondary and off-label uses. These are listed below.

The optimal dosage of Pyrin is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. What are the symptoms of Pyrin overdose?

An overdose occurs when more than the required amount (toxic levels) of [medicine] is taken. Initial symptoms of Pyrin overdose includes loss of appetite, drowsiness, seizures, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Later progressive symptoms may include pain in your upper stomach, dark colored urine, yellowing of your skin or the white patches in your eyes, liver damage and in rare cases, it can also lead to coma. So, by any chance, if you have accidentally taken more than the required dose of Pyrin inform your doctor immediately.

Although it's believed that Pyrin works mainly in the central nervous system (Brain and Spine). It prevents the release of prostaglandin, which is responsible for increasing pain and body temperature. It effectively reduces the intensity of pain signals to the brain.

What is the treatment for Pyrin poisoning?

As we know Pyrin is most widely used 'over-the-counter' analgesic/antipyretic medicine. However, paracetamol overdose can cause serious adverse effects on the liver, it may be fatal. But fortunately, there is an antidote, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) given within 8 hours of Pyrin ingestion which usually can prevent all serious side effects of Pyrin poisoning. However, do not take NAC without consulting a doctor as your doctor will tell you the right way and methods to help you relieve from this drug poisoning.

Can I use Pyrin in migraine?
