Phenbarb

Phenbarb, a prescription drug, is manufactured in various forms such as Tablet. It is primarily used for the treatment of Epilepsy, Seizures. Other than this, Phenbarb has some other therapeutic uses, which have been discussed ahead.

The correct dosage of Phenbarb depends on the patient's age, gender, and medical history. The condition it has been prescribed for, and the route of administration also determine the right dosage. Refer to the dosage section for a detailed discussion.

The most common side effects of Phenbarb are Vertigo, Double Vision. Besides the aforementioned side effects, there are other adverse effects of Phenbarb as well, which are listed below. Usually, these side effects of Phenbarb go away soon, and do not persist beyond the duration of the treatment. Please speak with your doctor if these side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration.

In addition, Phenbarb's effect is Severe during pregnancy and Moderate for lactating mothers. In addition, Phenbarb's effects on the liver, heart and kidney are discussed below in the Phenbarb related warnings section.

Phenbarb is not recommended if you suffer from certain medical conditions as it can have adverse effects. Bradycardia (Slow Heart Rate), Respiratory Depression, Liver Disease are examples of such conditions. The section on Phenbarb contraindications lists all such conditions.
