Max Healthcare Institute Limited was founded as Max Foundation in 1985. The first Max Hospital with OPD daycare and surgery was established in 2000 in Panchsheel Park, New Delhi.

Today, Max Healthcare has 17 healthcare facilities across Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra. The hospital chain has a total capacity of over 3400 beds and 4800 doctors with 85% of the bed capacity in metro cities.

The Chairman and Managing director of Max Healthcare is Abhay Soi and its co-promoter is KKR, a global private equity fund.

Max Healthcare also operates a home care service called Max@Home and pathology services called Max@Lab.

It specialises in Cancer, Heart and Vascular sciences, Neurosciences, Transplant medicine, Brain stroke treatment, Brain tumour surgery, Musculoskeletal sciences and Orthopaedics, Liver and biliary sciences, Coronary Angioplasty, Pacemaker Implantation, Prostate laser surgery and laparoscopic urologic surgery.

The Hospital Group provides various treatments like Chemotherapy, LVAD, Robotic Heart Surgery, Kidney Transplant, Lung Transplant, Bone, Marrow Transplant (BMT), HIPEC, Valvular Heart Surgery, Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Knee Replacement Surgery, ECMO, Bariatric Surgery, Biopsies, Catheter Drainages, Cochlear Implant, Knee Replacement Surgery, Septoplasty, Intrauterine insemination, Hip Resurfacing surgery, Tympanoplasty, Colorectal surgery, Abdominal surgery and liposuction.

Max Healthcare received NABH accreditation in 2009.
