Relispas Information

Relispas is a commercial drug that is prescribed in the form of Tablet. Relispas also has some secondary and off-label uses. These are listed below.

The optimal dosage of Relispas is largely dependent on the individual's body weight, medical history, gender and age. Dosage also depends on the route of administration and your chief complaint for which the drug is prescribed. For detailed information on this, read through the dosage section.

Relispas is available as a tablet, capsule, syrup and an injection. An oral dosage form is taken a few times a day. It is important to take Relispas at the same time every day so that one doesn't forget the dose. One can take Relispas with or without food. Taking it with food may avoid stomach upset. One must follow the recommendations of a doctor while taking Relispas. In some people, it might cause some side effects like dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, etc.

Can Relispas cause headache?

Yes, Relispas can cause headache as it is one of the side effects. Headaches can be prevented or managed by drinking adequate amount of water, taking ample magnesium, limiting alcoholic drinks, taking adequate sleep, avoiding foods high in histamine, using essential oils, taking B-complex vitamin, using a cold compress, trying acupuncture, relaxing with yoga and meditation.

Is Relispas used for period pain?

Yes, Relispas when used in combination with mefanamic acid can be used for the effective management of period pain or dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea results from the excessive release of prostaglandins which decrease uterine blood flow, increase uterine contractions and also cause peripheral nerve hypersensitivity leading to the development of pain. Period pain can severely affect a person's quality of life. It can be prevented and managed by taking calcium and magnesium supplements as they help in muscle relaxation, cutting down on coffee, using a heating pad, taking light meals, taking herbal tea, eating a low fat diet, massaging with essential oils, practicing acupuncture and doing some mild physical activity.
